Welcome to the new CakePHP forum for all Cake Bakers out there!

Yes yes I know. A lot of people think that we don't need a forum as we already have the Bakery to share and discuss whatever that we need, apart from the Google Group. And also that the CakePHP IRC channel is good enough for asking and answering questions.

But the way I see it, a forum board's approach is a lot different compared to the IRC channel and the Bakery. I find that having a forum is a lot more convenient to discuss about something and archive them. Compared to chatting in the IRC, you can't archive an answer about certain questions. Therefore, answered questions will still be asked in the future as there's no efficient way to save or search the discussions in the IRC (who's gonna go through the IRC log anyway? Everything is jumbled up in there! But I'm not saying that using the IRC is not a good thing. It's just a different approach). And even though the Bakery is a good resource for compiling new components, addons and helpers, however there is very little discussion going on in there. The CakePHP Google groups? I just find the place to be cluttered and non-user-friendly. Besides, why not a forum too?

Hence, I setup this Forum. Through some Googling, I've heard that there was a CakePHP forum setup at cakephpforum.com sometime ago, but it looks like the forum has already R.I.P. Too bad I can't register the same domain as it has been taken by someone else to setup an advertisement page. So .net it is.

Please input as many useful information as we all can into this forum board. I'll make sure I will upgrade the forum with useful plugins for the comfort of the users.

I'll be grateful if the main CakePHP developers like PHPNut, gwoo, nate and other CakePHP gurus out there would join and discuss in here. I'll be willing to give you guys admin/supermod priviledges. The rest are also invited.

This forum is totally independent, self-initiated.. and has no affiliations with the Cake Software Foundation or any of their trademarks/projects..

This is a good thing... because my office blocks the IRC, so i cant reach the cakephp's official irc channel. at least now i can use this place to ask questions. kudos

I definitely prefer this forum to the IRC. I have done searches and found that someone has discussed the very problem I"m having on the IRC but tried sifting through those logs (and I know regex, it still hurt). So thanks very much. This is also a great layout, great features (My Assistant and all). I just started with CakePHP a bit over a month ago and just wanted to make sure you know this is appreciated..........;-)

Not a big fan of the CakePHP google group type "forum" and the IRC channel is sometimes dead because of timezone differences.

And a mod already.. ha good job - I didn't even know any admin are still around to add such permissions ha

Hi everyone and thanks for this very welcome resource. As the Admin states, a forum makes archiving infos easier and is a resource I personally appreciate much better than mailing lists.
